GPMTA Student Recitals

Stella Gaukhshteyn, Chair and Leland Peck, Co-Chair
Fee: $10.00

Welcome to this year’s Student Recital Program.  The GPMTA Student Recitals will be held at the Music Gallery or online.  The recitals are wonderful opportunities for students to gain experience in performing. Pianists, Vocalists and Instrumentalists, solo or ensemble are welcome to perform! Each parent is required to sign the video permission form to give GPMTA permission to use the video in an unlisted YouTube Recital video if recital is online.

There is a one-time fee of $10.00 for each student who participates in the GPMTA Recital program.
The Student Recital Form is located on the next page.  Please send completed forms to Stella Gaukhshteyn. Checks for the student fees are to be sent directly to George Mohammed, Treasurer, with a copy of the form for his bookkeeping records.

General guidelines for all recitals during the 2021 - 2022 Season:
  • This is a special event in the student’s education in piano performance.  Encourage your students to dress up in comfortable, modest and attractive clothes with dressy shoes if possible. For the Masquerade Recital, students can come in modest and appropriate costumes.
  •  Teachers and Parents are expected to attend.  Students appreciate the added support you give them by being there.
  •  Each student is to be accompanied by an adult.
  •  Students are permitted to play more than one piece if the pieces are only one or two minutes in duration.  Older students may play more than one movement of a piece if time permits.  This will be based on the number of students enrolled for that day.
  •  All students may perform their pieces by memory unless they are accompanying or playing in an ensemble, however memorization is not required.  No repeats are to be taken in order to avoid lengthy performances.
  •  Teachers are encouraged to see that their students sit at proper height and arm’s length from the piano.  Feet should be flat on the floor or with a support box which will be available at the Music Gallery.  Please instruct students to bow before the performance (Musical hello) as well as at the end (Thank you for your attention.).
  •  Teachers are encouraged to accompany their students in piano duets, two piano works and accompany them on other instruments, such as voice, violin, cello, etc.
  •  Only videotaping is permitted.  Flash photography is not allowed during the recital.  However, parents may take pictures of the students on stage following the recital.
  •  Parents with young children who may get restless or vocal are asked to sit toward the back and leave if necessary to avoid distracting the performers.
  •  Students are to arrive fifteen minutes before the beginning of the recital.  Students that arrive late will play at the end of the recital, so as not to disturb the flow of the program.  All students are reminded to respect the wonderful pianos in the showroom.
